Amalfi drive
I will be visiting Italy in a couple of months and I was wondering about the drive from Sorrento to Amalfi and beyond. I read somewhere that the coastal road is one way and if that is the case how does one return? Also I will be driving with some nervous passengers. Are there barriers on the ocean side of the roads? Thank you

The drive is not one way, but it's really narrow and windy. Especially considering the nervous passengers I would surely choose to get to Salerno (from Rome or Naples) by train in the early afternoon (1 or 2 pm) and get a ferry to Amalfi. It would be a very scenic ride, and nobody would get scared! :) The ferry dock is in front of the railway station, very easy to find. Once there you ask/wait for the first one available, you'll be in Amalfi in 30-40 min.
